If you are one who loves the water and boating you probably have an appreciation of lighthouses. I've explored several lighthouses in the U.S. and abroad and found the screwpile lighthouses here in Maryland fascinating. It was a "given" that I would check out the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse.
Several organizations are voluntarily working to restore and preserve this national treasure. The Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse will be preserved for future generations to enjoy and will continue to be an active aid to navigation that can help travelers who have access GPS navigation systems.
And you can visit!
You will have an enjoyable trip from the time you board the boat at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. You will hear stories as you glide by various points of interest along the way. Once you enter the lighthouse, you will get a glimpse of a day in the life of a lightkeeper. You will most likely see restoration in progress and, in the near future, the lightkeeper's quarters as they once were.
The above video doesn't tell the whole story. We suggest taking the tour. It's a great way to spend part of your day. It's informative and FUN!
